The Independent: "This was a desperately poor Netherlands side, so painfully lacking in confidence or invention that their absence from Russia this summer suddenly made perfect sense. They came to life only in the last half-hour as they chased an equaliser, and if Ronald Koeman didn’t know it already, his first game in charge will have shown him the scale of the remedial work that will be required to restore the three-time World Cup finalists to their perch." Daily Mail: "So, yes, it's fair to say the men in orange are nowhere near the force of old. They have not made it to the World Cup, either, and new coach Ronald Koeman must wonder where those famous production lines of youth talent have gone."
The Guardian: it might be slightly impertinent to point out that we saw here why this is regarded as the worst Dutch side for a long time. The Sun: Sure, so this is not the Holland of old, when the watching world was in awe of Marco van Basten, Frank Rijkaard and Ruud Gullit.
The Times: The most important element of a friendly victory over the desperately disappointing Dutch, for whom only Ajax’s precocious Matthijs de Ligt was a beacon of hope, was the absence of nerves in English movement.
Daily Telegraph: This was certainly the weakest Dutch team they have faced in the intervening years.
