Het voorjaar was al niks - zoals voorspeld door een lange termijn voorspelling. En zo'n zelfde lange termijn voorspelling kondigt voor Nederland rampspoed aan voor de zomer. Een voorspelling van het European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) voor de maanden juni, juli en augustus voorspelt weinig goeds. Nederland bevindt zich in de blauwe zone op de kaart, de zone waar het te koud wordt. 'The ECMWF forecast shows below-normal temperatures persisting across northern and western Europe throughout the summer and now shows a colder scenario than in last month's forecast especially for August. However, the new CFSv2 (Climate Forecast System of the U.S. National Weather Service) forecast is dramatically warmer than last month's forecast. The CFSv2 shows above normal temperatures throughout the summer over western Britain and Ireland, over northern Scandinavia, and also in western Russia and the central Mediterranean. The cold anomaly over the North Sea that was previously a notable feature of the forecast is now quite unremarkable.'
