Brunei gaat homo´s stenigen en handen afhakken

Het rijke staatje Brunei voert vanaf 3 april nieuwe sharia wetten in. Homo´s zullen worden gestenigd tot ze dood zijn, dieven zal de hand worden afgehakt. De nieuwe wetten gelden ook voor kinderen. De sultan van Brunei, goed bevriend met het Nederlandse koninklijk huis, voerde in 2014 de Sharia Penal Code in om de invloed van de islam te versterken in de kleine, olierijke monarchie. De eerste fase van de wet omvat boetes of gevangenisstraf voor misdrijven zoals zwangerschap buiten het huwelijk of niet bidden op vrijdag. De sultan doet er nu een schepje bovenop. De sultan, op wie uiteraard geen kritiek mag worden uitgeoefend, heeft ook voor een aantal overtredingen geseling met een rotan stok ingevoerd.
